What a MaxLI score means â and what it does not mean.
Last updated: September 19, 2026
MaxLI is not LinkedIn
MaxLI is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to LinkedIn Corporation. A MaxLI score is not a LinkedIn score and does not claim to reproduce LinkedIn's internal ranking, search, recommendation, or hiring systems.
How the score is structured
The current MaxLI methodology combines universal profile quality with fit for the professional goal selected by the user. Universal factors include factual depth, clarity, completeness, evidence, professional positioning, and consistency. Goal-fit factors vary by the selected objective, such as job search, recruiter discovery, consulting, business leads, executive credibility, personal brand, or networking.
Rewrite score vs. projected score
The MaxLI rewrite score estimates the strongest defensible improvement MaxLI can make using the verified facts already available. The projected score after recommended actions is different: it assumes that the user truthfully completes the recommended improvements and supplies missing factual evidence where appropriate. Neither number guarantees an external outcome.
No automatic 9 or 10
MaxLI does not force every profile toward a 9 or 10. A thin profile, missing evidence, weak proof, unclear target, or absent real-world achievements may legitimately limit the score. The Path to 10 identifies what MaxLI can supply and what still depends on the user's truthful information and follow-through.
Education and certifications are not universal requirements
MaxLI does not lower a score simply because formal education, degrees, certifications, licenses, or credentials are absent. Those items should affect recommendations only when the supplied profile or target profession shows that a specific credential is materially relevant to the user's selected goal.
AI can make mistakes
MaxLI uses AI to generate analysis and rewritten copy. AI can occasionally misunderstand context, omit information, or produce a suggestion that should not be used. MaxLI applies validation and sanitization controls, but you must review the final report and confirm every factual statement before publishing it.
Visual review limits
Visual review is based only on images the user chooses to provide. MaxLI evaluates presentation factors such as crop, clarity, lighting, background distraction, message hierarchy, readability, banner composition, visible proof, and goal alignment. It does not score attractiveness or infer protected or sensitive personal traits.
No outcome guarantee
Profile quality is only one factor in recruiting, hiring, sales, networking, and professional visibility. MaxLI cannot guarantee profile views, search placement, recruiter contact, interviews, job offers, leads, clients, partnerships, compensation, or revenue.
Keep only recommendations that are accurate, relevant, and truthful for your real experience.
